Memory Problems: Signs of Memory Loss

If you think those memory problems are only affecting you, then you are wrong. Every day people complain about their memory problems, mostly about their temporary and short-term memory loss. Many times it is merely a result of preoccupation and hectic schedules.

Signs of Having Memory Problems

Was a bill paid late because you forgot to make a note on your calendar? Did you forget someone’s birthday, someone like your child or parent or your spouse? Did you forget to feed your cat? How many times have you had the right word you needed on the tip of your tongue only to have it afflict and escape your memory? Or perhaps you asked by someone to help remember, and you forgot. Sometimes it seems that whatever we do to trot out of our minds, they betray us at the worst possible moments.

Besides the physical damage of overworking, over-stressing will lead to a mental meltdown. Your short-term memory will begin to suffer, causing you to forget even the simplest of words.

Examine if there is anything you can do to ease your burden. Learn to stop giving so much out of yourself that you begin to suffer because of it.

The solution is simple. Take care of yourself. Learn how much is too much and start saying no, whether to yourself or to someone needing just a little favor that throws your whole schedule out of whack when you are already stressed enough.

Besides the obvious benefits of physical exercise, mental exercise is also essential to overall wellness.

Take up a new activity

Something to make you think, some way to present a challenge to your mind. We can keep our sanity and put a stop to our memory loss just by making an effort to make our brains working harder in other areas. Take on some active leisure time instead of what had put a burden on you that preoccupy your life. You may want to avoid having to try too hard, or you’ll just become discouraged. Take baby steps if necessary, keeping up with each accomplishment and making each new challenge a bit harder. Besides improving your memory and ability to recall words, this will boost your self-esteem.

Exercise your memory

Read, work on a crossword, write a diary, do jigsaw puzzles and play games such as chess.  Also learning something new will keep your mind sharp and recover words and ideas from the past.
