Rheumatoid arthritis and gout are both painful inflammations in the joints, but the causes are quite different. Gout is also associated with painful inflammation, especially in the toes, hands, feet, knees, and elbows. This disease is of metabolic and immunological origin. The symptoms of gout are similar to those of rheumatism, but the latter is an autoimmune disease affecting not only the joints but also other organs.
